Sodexho Marriott has made positive change
Marriott Food Services was often maligned for its monopoly contract with the university, but this year the Pizza Hut Express added something new.
Instead of just pizzas with loads of sausage or pepperoni, we now have the option of chicken.
The next door Taco Bell Express added the Chicken Burrito Supreme, too -- a sign that Marriott is concerned with providing better service to students.
Though perhaps a result of the merger with Sodexho to be become Sodexho Marriott Services, this bodes well for University of Hawai`i students.
Instead of being treated liked a captive market, Sodexho Marriott is treating the campus like a group of real consumers.
Let's hope this trend continues. Although prices on some items at Manoa Garden have increased since spring, proposed changes are always considered by the Food Service Committee before a final decision is made.
For now the chicken pizza is on special at $2.50. This is an increase from the $1.99 specials last year.
