Trustee Lindsey not deserving of position
Considering the fact that Kamehameha Schools help put more Hawaiian students in to the University of Hawai`i than the entire Hawai`i public school system, one might say President Michael Chun has done his job well.
Bishop Estate trustee Lokelani Lindsey differs with this position, and has interfered with school operations beyond her duties as trustee.
In a case that would be the parallel of President Clinton firing a postal worker, Lindsey fired a librarian.
The Kamehameha Schools were founded by Bernice Pauahi Bishop for the purpose of educating Hawaii's children. Instead of using Bishop Estate funds toward that purpose, Lindsey spent $500,000 to have an incomplete report drawn up that criticized Chun's management.
True, there was a $500,000 non-bid contract issued to have the school's athletics building renovated, but it seems the report was designed to take the focus off Lindsey.
Lindsey does not deserve to be a Bishop Estate trustee. She abused her power, causing not only embarrassment to Chun, but disgrace to the estate she was supposed to preserve.
