Prep Bowl should not become a petty fight

The Prep Bowl, Hawaii's foremost high school sports attraction, may become extinct due to disputes over player eligibility.

The Prep Bowl, a tradition in Hawai`i, if suffering from major turbulence because coaches cannot agree on the terms of eligibility.

This particular dispute cannot possibly warrant the death of the Prep Bowl. While alternatives to the Prep Bowl. While alternatives to the Prep Bowl are being considered, it seems childish to eliminate the tradition because of squabbling over minor eligibility rules.

Certainly some compromise can be reached in the matter.

Football is supposed to be conducted in the spirit of enjoyment and friendly, constructive competition. To allow matters such as player eligibility to escalate to a breaking point like this is to defeat the purpose of high school sports.

Hopefully these coaches will come to their senses and find a way to eliminate this dispute before it gets absolutely ridiculous.
