As I said earlier, I've been watching a lot of ST:TNG¹ recently. IMO, one of the best things about science fiction is the way folks can get away with using impossibly arcance phrases that no one actually understands.
My initiation to the world of technobabble began with Marvin the Martian and the "Uranium PU-36 Explosive Space Modulator." I hated Marvin the Martian, but I liked the big words.
Star Trek technobabble is a little different from real stuff. There are no acronyms, and terms are usually comprised of three words -- an adjective or prefix, a modifying noun, and generally an -ER word. Here, you try it:
