I'm in middle of studying Chinese right now, but I thought I'd take a break to share an interesting insight.
The Chinese character for "forget" is 忘 (wàng). It has two parts: 亡 (wáng), meaning "run away," and 心 (xīn), meaning "heart."
So forgetting something (or even someone) is seen as something fleeing from your heart. How romantic....
