I have a classmate who loves curling, and a group of us were watching it during a break the other day. Currently the U.S. is in the middle of the pack, and can't really hope for much (maybe a bronze medal), but I think that's probably what makes it fun to watch.
You can put it on, do something else, and not worry about missing much. You also don't need to worry about getting all amped up and then disappointed because an American is supposed to win. Between Michelle Kwan, Anton Apollo Ohno, and Bode Miller, I'm a bit saddened that so many Americans aren't performing up to expectations.
Maybe I like curling because it looks easy, and I can armchair-quarterback fairly easily. It's a bit harder to criticize a skeleton sledder when they're streaking by at 87 miles an hour.
