Transfats vs. Substitutes

New York banned transfats recently. That's good.

The next challenge, though, is making sure they aren't replaced by something that's only barely not as bad, like palm oil.

Malaysia and Indonesia produce most of the world's palm oil at the expense of rain forest. It's not too hard to conceive of Brazil following their lead if there's demand for greater palm oil production.
