My wife is sad about the Virginia shootings, in part because she's also Korean. I think Asian visitors and Asian-Americans (not just those of Korean descent) have a right to be scared -- just look at how Americans of Middle Eastern descent have been treated since 9/11.
I saw an interesting quote in the Wisconsin State Journal today from Geneva McNaughton of Reedsburg: "We're flying our flags at half-staff for the shooting victims at Virginia Tech, and rightly so. But why aren't we flying them at half-staff every day until the Iraq invasion is over, with thousands dead?"
I have a number of responses, but I don't think any are good enough.
