Survey on Korea's drinking culture

I saw this survey in the July 5, 2007, Korea Herald. It's available from their website here and for free here, but I thought I'd go over the most interesting parts. Out of 1,110 workers surveyed,


13% hardly ever drink
20% drink twice a month
30% drink once a week
33% drink twice a week
5% drink every day


34% "sometimes" drink a lot
26% "almost always" drink excessively

And check these out:
46% drank during working hours
39% experienced memory loss
28% have worked while under the influence
21% go three rounds or more

English school staffs don't really do the drinking thing all together, but remember that when I worked at JEL the owner would treat us to mandatory dinners about once a month. That was nice, but it was still a bit stifling to have your boss around when you go out.
