Language learning, American style

Learning a foreign language is tough, even when you’re in that country. I should know – I’ve spent about 12 of the past 18 years studying one language or another, and despite more than two years in Korea I’m still embarrassed by my low proficiency.

So I find this approach amusing:

This is from the Kyobo Bookstore in Jamsil (July 28). From left to right, that's:

One-day French
In-flight Chinese
Drive Time Japanese, and
Speak Japanese Today

I can just imagine myself sitting on a plane next to someone reading “In Flight Chinese.” What would I say?

"So you started studying Chinese an hour ago, huh? Well, uh, good luck with that..."
