Day 22 - White phase test, pt. 1

Pretty good day. In the early morning, we did MSE again, followed by Conditioning Drill 2 (that pull-up bar workout I described before).

As promised, we had the first part of our white phase test today. There were five parts, and they pretty much took up the whole day: land navigation, casualty care, M16 assembly, bleeding control, and M249/M240B use.

Land nav was pretty easy - identify 10 terrain features on a map and answer 10 direction questions about map grids and colors. Casualty care involved CPR-related questions. No problem there. On the M16 reassembly I had a small hitch because I was trying to put the bolt in backwards - dumb, but not disaster.

In bleeding control, I passed, but almost by accident - when given "arterial bleeding in the right leg," I said I'd put on a tourniquet, and it was right, but only because of a part that I didn't hear: "under fire." Oh well ... it was correct in the end...

I finished with the big guns handily, making a wrong first step in clearing the weapon, but quickly recovering.

In the evening, we stayed up late to get the bay spotless, and slept on the floor in our sleeping bags so that we wouldn't mess up our bunks. Hopefully, tomorrow goes as well as today.
