Day 59 - Pizza

Pretty cool day. Woke at 0430 for the “After Action Review” with the battalion commander. First we bet with the company commander from 0520 to 0610, then we were allowed to talk with the lieutenant colonel from 0610 to 0700.

Then it was breakfast time. I had grits, waffles, bacon, omelet!, raisins, mini wheats, grapes, honeydew, biscuit w/butter, powerade, and a banana, Glorious. After that, I washed up my rucksack, and cleaned my weapon. For lunch, it was veal cutlet sandwich, salad, rice, and apple wedges.

In the afternoon, I did data entry of the platoon’s Basic Rifle Marksmanship hits and misses. For dinner, the drill sergeants let us order a pizza and soda, which was fantastic. I got a thin crust supreme, a Sprite, and a Pepsi for $17. Nice! It’s what we’ve all been waiting for since Delta company ate their stuff in the CTA.

After that, we all just sat around (or in my case, laid around) and let it all digest until lights out at 2100. I managed to eat it all, though it was a bit salty and it took me some time. At least I’m in better shape than my bunkmate, who did the same and now feels horrible.

Tomorrow we wake up at 0645. Unbelievable – have I ever slept so late? ;-)
