I arrived in Kandahar today expecting to find loads of mail waiting for me. Unfortunately, it turns out the mail clerk returned them all to senders shortly before I arrived.
When I spoke to the supply sergeant -- the guy who supervises that function -- about my frustration, he explained the mail clerk was just doing her job. According to his explanation, I never told her what I wanted done with it, so it was perfectly normal for her to do that. No apology; he put the fault on me for not making sure I got through to them that they should keep it until I arrive.
So if you don't mind, please resend any mail you may have sent me to the new address. Hopefully the mail people will realize I'm here now.
