No DLPT in Kandahar

Very sad -- I stopped by the Education Center on base today and asked if they offer the Defense Language Proficiency Test. Unfortunately, they don't.

This is kind of a bummer because I would have been eligible to retake the Korean DLPT after February 4. In a sense, though, it's good because I have from now until late May to study -- it looks like that's when I'll get my R&R leave.

The irony is that I could -- if I were so inclined -- get really good at either Dari or Pashto, and then get paid for it after I return. I would not be able to get paid for it while actually using it.
