10 years ago I would never have imagined that I’d be in Afghanistan for this day. This morning there was a very brief memorial service, after which I went to chapel. From then on, it was a pretty normal day, apart from the stress of recent work related events.
In the evening, it was mostly quiet. I thought about the past ten years, and I thought about my family. Though I normally listen to music in the evening, right now the only sound in my room is the steady hum of the air conditioner.
I look forward to being home soon. I’d like to reconnect with some old friends. I want to watch football and relax. I miss my wife.
