Building a new base

Back in the end of August, we and our trucks were called on to carry construction materials for a new base in Uruzgan Province.

Without discussing too many details of the trips, it was a cool thing to come across a bare patch of dirt knowing that that this new thing would still be around after we were gone.

Some of the guys took some cool pictures.

You can really see the contrast between the green of the river valley and the brown of the surrounding area.

And though I don't like conspicuously waving my flag in somebody else's country, the cameraderie of the moment is almost tangible.
