First round of FY2012 captain promotions

This morning I was happy to get my sequence number -- I placed within the first 750. That's a great way to start the morning.

The afternoon was even better -- I found out I've been a captain for almost two weeks.

MILPER Message 12-251 gave the effective dates of promotion for the first 1242 lieutenants-promotable as follows:
  1. 23 July, 1-47 (47 total)
  2. 24 July, 48-338 (291 total)
  3. 25 July, 339-509 (171 total)
  4. 26 July, 510-762 (253 total)
  5. 1 Aug, 763-1083 (321 total)
  6. 1 Sept, 1084-1242 (159 total)
With the next captain board beginning on April 6th (according to that HRC website's "Consolidated Selection Boards for FY13"), my guess is that HR will be spacing things out through March.

But I'm happy. I ate breakfast as a lieutenant, lunch as a lieutenant-promotable, and dinner as a captain with 12 days time-in-grade.

Me too man. I'm #806 so I've been a CPT for a week! Sweet!

Congratulations! Does this mean you might get a better choice for your next duty station? Or does it mean you might be more likely to stay where you are?
