NT in 40 Days: Matt. 7-11

Matt. 7:13-14 reads “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell[a] is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it." [New Living Translation] There are a couple things I draw from this. First, the way to heaven has fewer people on it than that "path that leads to destruction" [New International Version]. As I look out on the world, I can't look around and tell myself, "I'm good enough." Comparing myself to others gives no reassurance. Second, you have to look for the path to find it. Nobody ever gets to heaven by drifting through life, and taking the easy path equates to choosing the broad one. The good news is that -- as it says in verse 7 -- everyone who seeks it find it. The trick is diligence and persistence.
