CLC3 Day 30: Finishing MDMP

On Friday, we did the clinch drill in combatives; today we did the final review. I'd say "test," but it wasn't that formal or comprehensive. I think our coach was just looking for confidence when we did the moves that would indicate we knew what we were doing.

So before it passes out of my brain, here's what we studied in Combatives Level 1:
  • The four body positions - guard, mount, side control and rear mount
  • Drill #1 - Mount > arm trap & roll > pass guard > side control > mount
  • Drill #2 - Mount > ratchet the arm > rear mount > escape rear mount > mount
  • Drill #3 - Mount > shrimp out to guard > Sweep to mount
  • Three clinch positions - from side, face to sternum w/gable grip, and head to lower back
  • Bent arm bar from mount and side control
  • Straight arm bar from mount
  • Arm bar from guard
  • Arm bar from guard attempt=> sweep to mount
  • Cross collar choke from mount & guard
  • Rear naked choke
  • Guillotine choke
In class, we finished up the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) with the Course of Action analysis. It involved war gaming our decision on a simulation computer, which was right up my alley -- having spent a lot of time on Nintendo strategy simulations with poor graphics but infinite replayability, I took to it like a fish in water.

So it was a fun day, and we finished by 4:00.
