Next assignment list

The assignment list for my class just came out. We have this weekend to mull things over, and then meet with our respective branch managers about our next assignment.

There are actually two lists: one for those with less than 18 months dwell time, and one for more than 18 months (units that will deploy sooner rather then later). The first group can pick all ten from list #1. The second group has to pick at least 6 from list #2 with the rest from #1.

So here are my required top 10, with the number of available units from the first and second lists in parentheses.

1. Korea (3,2) - no shortage of options here, so SY is happy.
2. Hawaii (1,2) - I doubt I'll even get this far, but it's #2.
3. Ft Lewis (1,0) - there's a BFSB here that seemed interesting.
4. Ft Riley (1,0) - I have extended family in the area.
5. Ft Sam Houston (1,0) - San Antonio is nice.
6. Ft Leonard Wood (1,0) - It's kind of near the Midwest.
7. Ft Sill (3,0) - just filling up the list at this point....
8. Ft Bliss (1,0)
9. Ft Bragg (1,0)
10. Ft Campbell (0,2)

 Other locations that I left off my list were:

• Ft Hood (2,1) Couldn't pick this since I just came from there.
• Kuwait (0,1) - if command sponsored, this wouldn't be bad.
• Ft Polk (1,0)
• Ft Drum (0,1)
• Ft Carson (0,1)
• Ft Knox (0,1)
• Ft Irwin (1,0)

So there are 28 units (17 in list #1, 11in list #2) in 17 locations to choose from, and of those 17, I had to pick 10. That's a little disappointing, but there are three or four units that I'd be sincerely excited to get.
