From the time I came in at 8:30 to the time I left at 3:52 I checked my email every five minutes, to no avail -- no news of my next assignment.
Then, just after putting the kids to bed, I checked one last time, and saw a message from my branch manager stamped at 6:00. Though it's not official (he said that the RFO will take a few more days because of the holidays), he let me know I *will* indeed be going to Korea.
That's a relief for my wife, who has been waiting since last week for any news. It is for me, too, since she's been asking me every day if I had any news. Plus, now I can get back to concentrating on class.
Today we studied seven blocks about petroleum operations. "Death by PowerPoint," as the saying goes. We'll have an assessment on this after we get back from holiday block leave, but our assessment on field services is tomorrow.
One other small note: I finished the online Support Operations Phase I Course. Before leaving Fort Lee I want to do the two-week Phase II course, and this was the prerequisite. The test was not as hard as I thought it would be, and you can access the course material ("online open book") while you're doing it. By comparison, the S-4 class tests were harder.
Phase I is nominally a 40 hour course, so I suppose I can put it on my ORB, but I'll wait until I finish both phases to do that. I spoke with our administrative clerk about enrollment, but I'll have to wait until the new year before they'll sign me up -- before then, there's a chance that the schedule will change and it won't match my schedule.
