CLC3 Day 72: LEX-ammo estimate

After PT this morning, we as a group resumed our mission analysis, and I as an individual resumed filling my time by reading the news.

In the afternoon, I came up with a logisitics estimate of how much ammunition our brigade would use, so I marked that as my accomplishment of the day. We finished at about 3:30.

Three pieces of other news:
  1. I had an appointment with the on-post tax office at 11:00, but the IRS is not currently accepting tax returns that use certain forms. Something to do with the end-of-year "fiscal cliff" legislation. They asked me to reschedule "sometime later," but I think I'll just efile through TurboTax.

  2. I've been trying to get an appointment with the civilian head of the logistics university to get advice on becoming a foreign area officer, but apparently that's not going to happen. From what my instructor told me, his assistant said he's too busy.  I was disappointed, of course, but at least there's a definitive word, rather than the back-and-forth of recent days.

  3. I went to the travel office to arrange for my flight to Korea. I'd have preferred to wait until my command sponsorship paperwork is complete, but it looks like that's going to take another four weeks. We dropped off the EFMP paperwork yesterday, but they said it will take "2 to 3 days" for them to fill out the one-page form.  Once that's done, it will take three weeks for Korea to process it. I figured I might as well lock in my flight now, rather than risk missing out on a flight that's close to my required report date. So, SY and the kids might have to travel at a later date, but it's the best we can do....
