This morning we were supposed to have a company PT formation, but I only got word after I'd made the commute to Fort Lee. Rather than spend the next two hours sleeping in the car or working out in the gym, I drove my cold-afflicted self home and went back to bed.
For the LEX we went over courses of action, but as the ammunition guy things didn't affect me much. I was much more interested in things related to command sponsorship.
First, the EFMP office called and said my DA Form 5888 was ready for pick up, but that they'd be closed from 9:00 to 1:00. That was good, because they've had my form since Monday. They had said filling out the one-page form would take 48 to 72 hours, but I guess they underestimated how difficult the process would be. :-(
Second, passport office called later and said my kids' passports were ready for pickup. The only catch is that I have to provide my orders allowing "concurrent travel" before I can get them, and if I don't pick them up within 30 days they'd be sent back and we'd have to start all over.
Unfortunately, the EFMP office was still closed even after 1:00, which made me worried. If I couldn't get my form, then I couldn't arange for my command sponsorship until the next week. And that would put be uncomfortably tight against that 30-day window. Happily, one of the nurses with a key to the office was able to get my form for me.
Third, I turned in my forms to the person who handles command sponsorship. They sent it to Korea for approval, and said it will probably take three weeks.
Fourth, I set up an appointment in March for the things we won't need in Korea to be moved into storage (like our washer and dryer).
In other news, I sat down with the GAFPB coach and went over a training plan to improve my sprint speed -- essential to my long jump distance. Now I have a better focus on what I can work on to pass that event.
