Super Bowl 李
When someone asked me who I wanted to see win the Super Bowl this year, I replied, "I hope they both lose." No one west of Connecticut likes those cheaters the New England Patriots. And I felt the Falcons should have forfeited their game against the Green Bay Packers. (Sure, they earned their win, but it should have never even gotten to that point.)
Plus, the Falcons have Julio Jones on their team, and as a former English teacher, that guy just irritates me. I mean, pick a pronunciation for the "J" and stick with it, as least through the length of your name. Either "[dʒ]ulio [dʒ]ones" or "Hulio Hones." Whichever you want, but pick one.
So when the fourth quarter ended with 28 points apiece, I was completely satisfied -- both teams had lost. Patriots fans were unhappy because they should have gotten credit for the blocked extra point, and Falcons fans were frustrated that they'd blown the biggest lead in Super Bowl history. Plus, Dion Lewis blew out his hamstring in the last play of regulation. (No one's happy about an injury.)
People are saying this was the best Super Bowl game ever, but that might be a bit of an overstatement. At best, I'd be willing to grant a very close #2...
...right behind the Bears' 1985 victory over the Patriots in Super Bowl XX.
