Equality vs. equity

There's equality, and then there's equity. Equity is having different rules for different people to match particular needs. Equality is having an equal number of pregnant men spaces.

Sometimes equality's the better choice. It's "fair." But sometimes fair's not the thing that makes sense. Unfortunately, it takes a bit of sense to recognize when and why equity is the better goal.
