BU vs. UB

I got some free tickets, so yesterday I took a couple of buds to a college football game. It was kind of funny, because at first I thought it was for a local college -- University of Mary Hardin Baylor, a Division III school -- when in fact it was for Baylor University (a Division I school) up in Waco.

We had a good time -- for 9/11 they did a special recognition of the military fans -- and I got to have some funnel cake. (That's always a good deal.) Plus there was a marching band halftime show, which is one of the reasons why I like college games a bit more than professional teams.

I was expecting a tense game of opposites. They played the University of Buffalo, which seemed like it would be such a rivalry -- y'know, the whole "BU vs. UB" thing; Baylor's Bears vs. Buffalo's Bulls; maybe some North vs. South conflict, too...

But no such thing. Though the stats were roughly equal, Baylor scored 34 points to Buffalo's 6, and fans were leaving as early as the the third quarter. Not exactly tense stuff.

But still, it was fun to watch and I was happy to get out and have some guy time.
