Baptist Church forgot men's responsibilities

Although the Baptist Church seems willing enough to encourage its women to be submissive to their husbands, it has yet to publicly state its need for their men to be more loving.

This displays a disturbing lack of focus on the two-way mature of a marriage, especially so considering the source -- one of the largest denominations in the country.

Perhaps the question isn't "are the wives submissive enough?" so much as "are the men too harsh?"

Although there ar no laws against love, peace, kindness, gentleness, or self-control, there seems to be little importance on these values in modern religion in Hawai`i.

On the other hand, Hawai`i has one of the highest rates of domestic abuse in the nation, against which there are plenty of laws.

The feminist outcry against the Baptist Church's statement was understandable.

Perhaps if Christian men led the way in their duties as husbands, their wives would respond with love and submission in kind, without having to be reminded by the church.
