I'm not a big fan of contemporary art, but today we went to the Shanghai Art Museum. Not much piqued my interest, but I did find two things that were interesting. One was this thing that looked like a raptor-like dinosaur skeleton encased in a clear rocket car.
The other thing was a pair of pseudo-advertisements. One looked like a Pepsi advertisement, but when you looked closer, you saw it was made up of small, blue "Coca-Cola"s. The other was just the opposite:
I guess the point was to satirize the pointlessness of advertising in situations where competitors offer (essentially) the same product. I can appreciate that.
I wish more art came with labels explaining what the artists were thinking. I know others would say that betrays the whole essence of art, but still, I don't like having to guess.
