The new apartment

So, here’s our new apartment – one room big. In Korean there’s a saying: it’s about as big as a booger (“코닥지 만해요.”) That about fits.


The area nearby isn’t bad. Our building is near a park, my job is a five-minute walk away, and the nearest grocery store is even closer. There's a McDonald's about 10 minutes away in an outlet store district called a "Rodeo" (California pronunciation). And there's a huge produce market/auction where we can get all kinds of fresh stuff -- from spinach to king crab -- for great prices.

We’re still in the process of getting settled in. SY is working to find a used washing machine and refrigerator, and we’re debating whether to buy an air conditioner. I’d like to get a microwave as well, but we’ll see how it goes.
