Korean Krispy Kreme

Korea’s got a growing number of Krispy Kreme stores popping up here and there. Here’s a picture of the one at the Express Bus Station (고속터미날). They’re popular in part because they’re considered to be of “premium” quality. People often buy them as gifts for employees or friends.

On Oahu, the only way to get them is from a fundraiser sale. High schools would buy a bunch and have them flown over on a morning flight from Maui (there was no Krispy Kreme on Oahu when I left). The closest one to my parent’s place near Madison, Wisconsin, was in Illinois.

Ironic, then, that there’s one under contruction about 20 minutes from the apartment. Believe me, that’s good news. For the same price as freedom (which costs a buck-oh-five)1, a Krispy Kreme donut can soon be mine. Hee, hee, hee….
