Day 17 - Return from FX1

I slept well last night, but not because I was comfortable - I was just to stinkin' tired I didn't care that my clothes were still wet. I didn't change them until morning.

We had breakfast in the field and more classes in the hot sun. One was about digging entrenchments, medevac stuff, how to set up defensive lines of fine, and how to carry people in a Sledco (it's like a litter, but it rolls up).

We also learned how to low crawl, high crawl, and move in pairs. For the low crawl, the drill sergeants poured five-gallon drums of water onto the ground, so I was sovered in sand by the end. I was happy with the experience - I may not be the toughest or the most enthusiastic, but I'm getting the job done.

Fourth platoon got smoked badly today - it was downright scary. One guy had a 7.62 found he'd picked up off the ground and thought would make a nice souvenir. Another guy, in the dark, mistook the company commander for a guy in his platoon and called him an obsecenity. Bad, bad, bad...

For lunch we had MREs, but again I couldn't finish mine. I ended up giving away a lot of my M&Ms - if there's anything that can't be wasted and *needs* to get eaten, it's them.

Got transported back on busses, took a shower, and ate dinner. I was able to stuff down salad, corn, broccoli, turkey, a roll, some pear wedges, and two glasses of Powerade in record time. Weapons cleaning after that, and finally to bed.
