Day 26 - BRM week

Today was a surprisingly good day. We got up early and did the 10k (6.4 mile) ruck march. I fell behind a little, but made it OK. I finished all by my apple for breakfast, and all of my MRE #7, Chicken with Salsa. Delicious.

This week we’ll be doing BRM (Basic Rifle Marksmanship). And we finally got our white phase banner, though … well … that doesn’t mean anything will change. I turned my ankle a bit on the march. I’m a little concerned about that – I hope it’s not serious.

Dinner went a bit long, too, so I was able to fill up. I just wish there was chocolate milk – that would have helped wash down the cornbread I grabbed. We had to wait an hour at attention in our battle rattle after we came back, though – that wasn’t fun. And the captain smoked us all because one of the other platoons didn’t show proper respect to the sergeant major when they saw him walking by.

You know, when I think about that above stuff, I guess my day wasn’t all that “surprisingly great.” But I did get three letters – one from my sister and two from my wife. This, of course, happened the day after I wrote a depressing one to her only yesterday. I’ll write to her again tonight and let her know I got hers.

And another thing – I helped one of the drill sergeants with a Word document, and he was impressed. That was pretty cool.
