In the morning, we did MSE and some stupid rifle exercises. In the afternoon, we did the virtual zeroing range - a building with a big projection screen that works like a shooter arcade game. It took me forever to qualify – I had problems with everything. First I had to correct my trigger squeeze, then breathing. Later I had problems because I kept lifting my cheek to move my glasses up. I think it took me, like, 30 three-round shots to get it together.
My bunkmate, on the other hand, only needed two three-round shots – the absolute minimum. He cheated, though, in my opinion. He once had a job where he zeroed in a police department’s assault rifles. But tomorrow we’ll be on the real range, and we’ll see how I do. Of course, I’m a bit nervous about how I’ll do in front of drill sergeant B.
Got a letter from my grandpop. He won’t be able to make it to graduation, but he said he’ll still come to OCS graduation. I’m a little disappointed, but I can deal with that.
We got a platoon guide (PG), four squad leaders, and eight team leaders today. The PG takes the place of the drill sergeant in marching us around, but for the other leaders, I’m not yet sure just what their responsibilities are.
Had CQ (I have no idea what that stands for) duty at 2100 – it wasn’t easy, even though it was only an hour long. We had to haul around a bunch of water jugs and coolers of ice sheets for tomorrow’s festivities.
