Day 38 - Advanced Rifle Marksmanship

Did MSE (muscular strength & endurance) for PT. I did well -- after running an 8:15 mile on the sandy track, I ran another lap at 1:45. It gave me confidence that I can do well on the next APFT.

I couldn't finish breakfast, but no big deal - it was nice to eat waffles in the DFAC again. We had Advanced Rifle Marksmanship (ARM) classes in the morning and again after lunch. It involved how to use the M68 Close Combat Optic (CCO), the PAC-4C night sight, and how to shoot from a barricade.

Rumour had been circulating that there was going to be some sort of concert today, but I guess that either got cancelled or we're not allowed to go. I'm disappointed - I could have used a distraction.

We had a locker inspection today, and mine was perfect, so I earned a 10 minute phone call. My bunkmate only got 7 minutes because his laundry bag was a bit big. Two guys really blew it because they had medications in their lockers. Article 15s for the both of them.

To familiarize us with other weapons, we now have a Romanian-made AK-47 in our bay, along with some M-4s. They're so small compared with the M-16s. Much lighter, and therefore easier to carry, though I'm not sure how anyone can do D&C with them.

The two guys in our platoon who got Expert at BRM got recognized in from of the company; First Sergeant gave them each a T-shirt.

Lunch was good; I was able to pack in my customary dessert - a glass of chocolate milk. Dinner was also notable: buffalo cornish hen, peas, coleslaw, rice, a bun with peanut butter, and cucumber/onion salad. Yum.

The only bad news from today is that I think I lost my watch. I'm not worried, though. I do this a lot, and it's probably show up in a few days.
