TOPIC: Modern BCT

I was thinking about how Basic Combat Training differed from the old style boot camp of my father's days. Here's what I could come up with:

• no excessive humiliation
• reduced swearing
• Iraq War orientation, i.e. uniform, suede boots, and IED training
• weapons maintenance
• training now is with M-4, rather than M-1
• reactionary fire
• night vision goggles
• reacting to indirect fire

Anyone have any other thoughts?
