Woke up at 0645, as promised. Biscuits & gravy, waffles, raisins, apples, and an orange for breakfast. Washed gear in the morning. Pork with mustard on rye for lunch, along with rice, carrots, and apples. In the afternoon, there was more cleaning, but mostly it was entering BRM & email info. Did the Death Gratuity paperwork.
For dinner, there was knockwurst, rice, salad, milk, powerade, raisins, fruit salad (w/marshmallows and coconut). I got a large Reese’s shake, a garment bag for my Class A uniform, some stamps and pins from the PX.
Spoke with my dad by pay phone and found out he’s not coming. Thumbs down – I’d have liked to find out sooner. Now I have to make my own plans…. A lot of families aren’t coming, so I probably shouldn’t feel too bad, but I’m disappointed because I’d grown to look forward to it. Still, he said he’d come for the OCS graduation.
From 3 to 4 a.m. I worked the CQ desk.
I’m concerned about the APFT in OCS. Does it really affect how quickly we’ll get put in a class? Of course, I’m sure every class is “overbooked,” but what’s the reality? Can I get in and out by December 15th? And will my score mean anything in terms of assignment ranking?

I found out the answers to these questions later. Yes, PT score does affect when you will class, but having scored somewhere in the 240s I was fine -- I remember the cutoff score as being something like 212.
And yes, actually, your PT score at entry greatly affects your class ranking, since it's so hard to outperform your classmates on academic tests. Getting a 300 on your entry and exit APFTs can make a huge difference in getting the branch you want.
