My first day of work was on the Thursday before the four-day Independence Day weekend. Good thing, too -- the run we did in the morning just about broke me. We ran for about 45 minutes, which wouldn't have been bad if it were two months ago, but I've made a deliberate decision to let my shin bones rest over the past few weeks, and I paid for it today.
One of my classmates is actually in the same unit as me, and he agreed. We both kept up, though, so it's not like the new lieutenants fell out of the run on the first day. That would have been bad.
In the morning my classmate and I hit the Central Issue facility (CIF) to get our work gear. What's neat about being Transportation is that we get steel toed boots and camouflage overalls. Cool.
In the afternoon I had and appointment to see the brigade commander. He was busy, though, so he pushed it back to 1500. The thing was -- today's Thursday, and the whole post is required to go home at that time. So that's about it for the first day.
Nice.
