Today I woke up at 0500, showered, and ate chow at 0700. The lines are really long -- until the infantry brigade goes out to "The Sand Box," it's going to be like this.
We're still waiting for our battalion, we're killing time sitting under camouflage nets doing "hip pocket training" -- impromptu training without any materials or props.
In the morning we did convoy tactics; in the afternoon it was communications protocols. Nothing we haven't done before, so the hardest thing was paying attention. We lieutenants got assignments for doing headquarters duty, which is another version of sitting around, but inside the headquarters tent.
Compared with what we could have been doing at Fort Hood if we'd been allowed to do our own field exercise, I can say I am getting a lot more sleep.
