Australian for beer

"Fosters. Australian for Beer."

Today I learned that despite the whole Outback's Steakhouse image, not many people drink Fosters in Australia. Rather, people drink different things depending on which state they're in (and, I suppose, if that state is "inebriation").

Here's a list of Australian states and their typical local beers are:
Queensland: XXXX ("Four Xs")
New South Wales: Toohey's Extra Dry, Carleton Draft
Victoria: VB (Victoria Bitter)
South Australia: Coopers Pale Ale
Western Australia: Swan Draft, Emu Bitter
Tasmania: Cascade, Boags

So if you're in Australia looking for Fosters, my coworkers in the office recommend the Kingston Hotel pub in Canberra -- there are enough foreigners there that it actually sells.
