Luke is my favorite gospel. As a doctor who accompanied Paul, he took a very methodical approach, as he explains in the very first paragraph.
"Having carefully investigated all these accounts from the beginning, I have decided to write a careful summary for you, to reassure you of the truth of all you were taught." -Luke 1:3-4 [NLT]
I'm one of those people who appreciate careful consideration of important things, especially religious ideas. I've always chafed at the "just accept it on faith" perspective, and to read 2,000 years later of a similarly minded person is very reassuring.
