CLC3 Day 15: Presentations

Today we presented our country briefs; my group's was on Kenya -- showing how the country's social structure, economics, history, and politics would affect Unified Land Operations. Given that the minimum time was 19 minutes and the maximum was 20, we really should have rehearsed.

In an absolute sense, it did not go well. My group's other members went over their time and left me about 90 seconds to cover my five-minute part and conclude. When I hit the 20 minute mark, the instructor cut us off.

Not good. I asked afterward whether it was better to go over on time or skip information; the instructor said it's better to say, "We're running low on time, but here are the main points I want to go over...."

Relatively speaking, though, it wasn't all that bad -- I think the intent was to assess our public speaking abilities, and in that sense I did all right.

After lunch we covered "Mission Command," which was a little weird -- it's the art and science of being the commander. To me that seems a little like studying how to walk, but then again, I tend to overthink. Either way, I have a 6-8 page paper due November 5th to work on. I'll be assessing COL Paul Freeman's mission control during the Battle of Chipyongni.
