CLC3 Day 7: Combatives

Today we did our first and only requred combatives class. Over the course of the next several weeks, we have the option of going for a Combatives Level I certification.

I think I'd like to go for that -- I've never been a combatives type of guy, but this way I can get it out of the way. Back in Fort Hood, the brigade commander wanted everyone to be Level I certified; I can imagine my next unit would prefer that his newest commander have that block checked.

Class started at 0900, and consisted of an ungraded quiz on the Soldier's Creed and questions from the reading. We also had to turn in our first paper -- a 2-3 page report on whether we thought the Army truly is "a profession of arms."

Given that I was up pretty late last night, it was pretty rough.

More leadership class in the afternoon, and then we were released at 1500. Afterward, I picked up my dress uniform from the tailor; I'm happy to be ahead of the curve in having everything ready for next week's inspection.
