Felix, the governor in chapter 24, was an interesting guy. His wife was a Jewish, and he was "well acquainted with the Way." [v22]
Neverthless, he got really nervous when Paul preached about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come [v25]. Like Herod with John the Baptist, he was one of those guys who liked to hear good preaching -- as long as it didn't hit to close to the mark.
I can be like that -- more interested in being *at* church than getting something personal from it. I doubt it went very well for Felix, though, and I doubt it would work for me either.
