We started out with the open-book exam on the maintenance block of instuction. This was difficult for me for three reasons:
- I didn't realize someone had developed a study guide and stored it on the shared drive,
- I had missed out on half of the lessons because of last week's levy brief, and
- Since the quartermaster exam I've become really diligent about proving my answers, and this used up a lot of time.
That wasn't the only thing that frustrated me, though. When I checked my email, I found out there's another test date on Monday for the people who still needed to finish events for German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge -- and there's a "remedial training" on Sunday. That one day difference between the training and the test doesn't leave a lot of time for practice and improvement.
I admit I haven't been 100% dedicated in my training over the past month, but I have been focused on improving my long jump in every PT session over the past three weeks. Even so, I've been frustrated by the dearth of coherent direction on self-improvement. For example, this site is good, but it focuses on track coaches. I admit I'm a bit of a strange athlete, but I need some specific advice on how to train.
I had thought about working with a personal trainer (for the first time in my life I have money I can spend on this kind fo thing), but one trainer I contacted said I wasn't really the kind of client he could help. He did, however, send me a link to a website. It just happened to be the same exact site at the one above.
In addition to the GAFPB thing, I found out my travel voucher from my 2011 deployment got kicked back again. I've been working on this for over a year now.
But apart from these little things, class went smoothly. After the test, the Fort Lee commanding general paid us a visit and spoke to us until lunch. After lunch, we did a practical exercise on our next block of instruction -- ammunition -- and covered one set of slides.
We finished at 3:00. I got a haircut and then scheduled my transportation brief for Friday morning.
