봉숭아물 (fingernail dyeing)

Having grown up around my mother and sister, nail polish is not new to me. However, my wife sometimes does this traditional Korean fingernail dyeing.

First, she uses the 봉선화 plant (bong-seon-hwa, 鳳仙花) to make a green paste, and puts that on her fingernails. Then, she covers her fingers with foil and to keep in on overnight. The next morning, her nails look like this. Because it's a dye, rather than a coating, the nails look like this until they grow out.
