Onward 2 Opportunity 3-day seminar

For the past three days, I've been attending the local "Onward 2 Opportunity" seminar hosted by the Schultz Foundation (Starbucks) and Syracuse University.

On Tuesday (Day One), we had the introduction and "Personal Branding & Networking" discussions. Basically, use LinkedIn and your personal networking skills to get a job.

After lunch, we talked more about LinkedIn and heard from the Human Resources guy. Although most of us came in having already decided on a course of study, O2O makes a point of forcing you to listen to all the presentations before formally registering your choice.

On Wednesday (Day 2), we talked about "Thriving and Striving" in the morning, which is about looking for jobs that you can be your best in.

In the afternoon, we heard about Project Management Professional, though -- of all the sessions to miss -- SY had her naturalization at 1:30.

On Thursday (Day 3), we had the "Corporate Research," "Growth Mindset & Workplace Fluidity," and "VCTP Toolbox" presentations in the morning.

In the afternoon, we heard from three speakers talking about I.T. certifications.

On the whole, I think the three-day seminar is a necessary evil to kick-start the program. Listening to other people's experience was helpful for those who hadn't already decided, but for me, I'm anxious to get started on the PMP coursework.
