New job, Day 2

Today started out with a lot of frustration. I woke up the Security Manager by calling them at 8:30, which didn't start the conversation off well. That person's part-time, so they come in to the office on Tuesdays at 11:00.

I wasn't really sure what's going on. I can't get building access at Work Site until somebody else does something, but I don't know who that is, whether it's Team Lead or Co-worker. I've narrowed it down a little bit, though. Security Manager told me it's not them.

When I called Team Lead, and they said three things:
  1. They'd email me some more online training to do.
  2. They'd be able to use my higher clearance (though that'd require more paperwork), and
  3. There may be a conflict of interest to work there while I'm on terminal leave (more to follow).
Apparently, there's another person called Program Manager, but I don't know what they do.

So it seems that there's really no one person who's in charge of my on-boarding. Co-worker had other things to worry about (at the time I called) and will get back to me later. Team Lead just learned my name yesterday. Security Manager isn't a source for information -- just an actions person who performs tasks as required. Program Manager is an unknown capability. Phone Answerer seems to be just that.

As uncomfortable as I am just sitting around waiting for somebody to send me something, I guess this is how things work.
