The new routine

These days, I love my job. I leave the house at 4:30 a.m., get to work at 5:00 (because there's no traffic), and do some daily reports.

At 7:30, I brief the division director, and then spend the next hour or so answering any questions that have come up.

I eat my "lunch" at about 9:30, then go out to my car at 10:00 (which is parked very close by, because -- at 5:00 -- there's little competition) and use my 1-hour break to get a nap.

At 11:00 I return, and start to work on the daily "dashboard" which I then send out to a distribution list. With any free time after that, I work on my PMP certification.

By 2:00, I'm done and on the road home -- again, fighting little traffic. By 2:30 -- 2:45 at most -- I'm home again.

Back when I first started, I was very anxious because I thought I wasn't pulling my own weight, but now I realize there just isn't enough work to go around for all of us.

In the long-term, there will probably be some changes to the contract's staffing levels, but for now, that's not my concern. I perform my assigned duties, log my billable hours, and go home.

It' a great life.
