Finally, a phone

On Monday we looked at two off-post houses -- first a townhome and second a single family unit. The second was better than the first, but both had stairs that I no longer feel as confident on. Maybe a high-rise, single-floor apartment would be better.

At 3:00 we went back to Docomo for our cell phone application. I thought it would be quick because most of the hard work had been done on Saturday, but no. It was just as painful as before.

Although we'd arrived early, we were seen precisely on time, and the whole experience took three hours. To an extent, I can understand why they'd be diligent before handing over nearly a thousand dollars worth of cell phone tech to a pair of foreigners, but even so -- three hours?

Maybe it had to do with the background check, or the fact the employee was in training (研修中、けんしゅうちゅう), but I'm really glad that was the only thing I had to do that evening.
