Getting a renter, offered a rental

Today we got two pieces of good news: we got a renter for the Hawaii house, and we got an on-post housing offer.

The renter will move in before the end of the month, which works great for cash flow. The only catch is that -- at the current amount -- the rent won't be enough to cover the mortgage for the next few years.

The second piece of good news is that the Housing Office contacted us today. They have a 1500 square-foot, 3-bedroom, 2.5 bathroom two story townhouse that's available.

We checked it out this afternoon and it passed muster. Objectively speaking, it greatly outclasses anything we'd find off-post. One of the place we saw on Monday was a 3-bedroom, 1.5-bathroom detached house that was only 1000 square-feet.

It didn't even have a clothes dryer, and it would require us to get a second car to take the kids to school.

We're taking the 3/2.5
